Senior Server Engineer (AWS)

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain the right cloud infrastructure architecture, balancing performance and resilience with cost.
• Work on developing, integrating, and deploying new and existing security cloud technologies such as alerts, sensors, and tools.
• Understand and contribute to standards across the organisation and ensure the company is fully compliant to those standards and policies. Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues.

• Managed the day-to-day operations of the MYNT|GXI|FUSE host computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair.
• Ensured that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained.

• Developed new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Installed new and rebuilt existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with the standards
• Researched and recommended innovations and wherever possible; automated approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale
• Performed daily system monitoring verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes
• Performed daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks
• Provided Tier III from various constituencies. Investigated and troubleshooted issues
• Applied OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configured/Added new services as necessary
• Performed ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimisation as required. Configured CPU, memory and disks partitions as required.

Network and Telecommunications Officer

Responsibilities:

• Supported, maintained, and documented all LAN/WAN-related processes such as data and voice networks, troubleshooting; installing, upgrading and configuring network (printers/appliances, directory structures, user rights, security software, remote connections, and file sharing services).
• Handled server, PC and peripherals such as analysing server OS software and application system problems; undertook system administration; maintained and managed software licenses, data back up, and restoration.
• Managed voice and digital lines i.e. cabling, terminating and PABX programming of telephones and peripherals and evaluating, troubleshooting, planning and recommending changes and upgrades to PABX systems.
• Administered internet connection and configuration to client computers and recommended solutions to related concerns (e.g. mail rejections, spam, denial of service attacks, viruses, hacking attempts) and blocking of sites and malicious contents that cause internet traffic.
• Documented service requests received and attended, changes applied to the network system and timely submission of reports to super visor/manager.
