The Position

The successful Senior Java Developer will be working with the company’s existing cloud integrations for AWS and Azure, and ingesting cloud data through our core server APIs for visualisation using JAVA SDKs and/or REST APIs. 

Where necessary, you will liaise with other developers to design and deliver features. 

Moreover, you are tasked to participate in 2-weekly status meetings to assist in release and iteration planning activities and offer daily updates about ongoing work. You will also be expected to participate in our regular peer code reviews and the odd architectural discussion to share knowledge throughout the team. 

Candidate Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

  • Strong Java8+ knowledge (including Lambdas, Streams, Optional <>, multi-threading) 
  • A knack for producing robust, maintainable code with a pragmatic approach (not over-engineered nor under-engineered) 
  • Knowledge of cloud services from AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud; or a strong desire to learn
  • Experience in writing applications using cloud APIs/SDKs
  • Experience in consuming REST APIs over HTTPS
    Full SDLC experience 
  • English fluency, and excellent written and verbal communication skills

The ideal candidate is also: 

  • Comfortable in writing unit tests using TestNG and Mockito
  • Familiar with the PostgreSQL database server and SQL
  • Familiar with JavaEE technologies: EJB, JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, JAXRS, JAXWS, JCA, transactions
  • Familiar with Python 
  • Knowledgeable in the Graph theory (basic mathematical)
  • Comfortable with a Linux Shell 

Bonus skills: 

  • Experience with Gradle builds 
  • Familiarity with virtualisation and container technologies
