We’re looking for a skilled and driven PHP Symfony Team Lead to join our ever-expanding team of expert IT professionals based in Makati. The Position

The successful PHP Symfony Team Lead will be tasked to:

  • Build and maintain Wren’s custom-built, cutting-edge applications (Symfony 3/4 based)
  • Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others
  • Contribute to project specifications and estimations
  • Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
  • Work with business stakeholders and the development team to understand the initial scope for a new project
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team

Candidate Requirements

Experience and Knowledge

Essential:

  • A team lead or project lead experience, or currently a senior developer ready to move into a team lead role
  • At least 5+ years of experience in creating and maintaining object-oriented PHP 5/7 based systems
  • Experience of using the Symfony 3, Symfony 4 or equivalent framework
  • Experience of working with MySQL 5+
  • Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS/LESS or SASS, JavaScript and Ajax
  • Experience of using Version Control systems such as Git as part of a team
  • Knowledge of the Doctrine 2 ORM
  • Experience in creating and maintaining RESTful APIs and JSON
  • Experience of automated testing (preferably PHPUnit and Behat/Selenium)
  • Design patterns knowledge and practical experience implementing them
  • Experience of Agile project methodologies and its impact on iterative design
  • Experience of working in a continuous integration environment
  • Familiar with Linux or Mac OS

Desirable:

  • Experience of retail and/or manufacturing environments and processes
  • Experience with Redis, Elastic Search, Rabbit MQ, Mongo DB
  • Bachelor's Degree

Skills & Attributes

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills–must be able to describe technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to mentor and support more junior members covering technical and non-technical skills
  • Highly proficient in both spoken and written English
  • Ability to work as part of an Agile team
  • A passion for adhering to coding standards and clean code
  • Has a keen eye for detail

Desirable:

  • Has previously worked for a retailer and knows retail processes
